Welcome to Great Stories Well Told — a storytelling podcast for listeners who love timeless tales.

In this ad-free podcast, I share fairy tales, fables, folk tales, myths, and classic short fiction — stories that have endured because they speak to something in us that does not change.

Each episode, released on Wednesdays, will run between 15 and 40 minutes and is created for anyone who enjoys being read to.

Thank you for listening. Follow or subscribe so you don’t miss an episode.

Do you remember the feeling of being read to?

The quiet.
 The turning of a page.
The sense that, for a little while, the world made sense.

Welcome to Great Stories Well Told.

This is a simple podcast — just a storyteller, stories, and listeners.

As a young child, I gravitated to the Myths, Folk, and Fairy Tales at the library. I loved the magic… and the certainty that virtues like kindness, honesty, and courage mattered.

Over many years, I shared stories with students in California and Washington, and with my daughter. Some of you may recognize my name from a classroom or school.

Now, I am returning to the stories that have stayed with me — and discovering new ones.

Each episode offers a small collection of fables, folk tales, myths, and classic short fiction — All of them are worth telling well.

Here is a brief moment from Aesop’s fable, The Dog and the Shadow:

“As the dog crossed a plank over a running brook, he looked down and saw another dog beneath him with what seemed to be a larger piece of meat. And reaching for it… he lost his own.”

Beware lest you lose the substance by grasping at the shadow.

Stories endure because they speak to something in us that does not change.

Leo Tolstoy once wrote:

“Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself.”

Stories help us begin that change — quietly, thoughtfully, one listener at a time.

Episodes of Great Stories Well Told will be released on Wednesdays and will run about 15 to 40 minutes.

This will always be an ad-free podcast.

If you love timeless stories… if you miss being read to… I hope you’ll join me.
